Teeth Whitening

In chair teeth whitening

At Dental Studio Mooroolbark we offer in chair teeth whitening using Phillips Zoom whitening with 25% hydrogen peroxide. This treatment is designed to effectively lighten the shade of your teeth in a single appointment, providing immediate and noticeable results. Appointments include 4×15 minute cycles which can be tailored depending on individual tooth sensistivity.

Procedure Overview:

  1. Initial Consultation: Before the procedure, you’ll typically have a consultation with a dentist or dental professional to assess your oral health and determine if teeth whitening is suitable for you. They will also discuss your expectations and the anticipated results.
  2. Preparation: The dentist will prepare you for the treatment by protecting your gums and lips with a barrier to prevent any contact with the whitening gel, which can cause irritation.
  3. Application of Whitening Gel: The 25% hydrogen peroxide gel is then carefully applied to the surfaces of your teeth. This gel is activated by a special LED light, which helps to accelerate the whitening process.
  4. Light Activation: The LED light is positioned over your teeth for 4×15 minute intervals to activate the hydrogen peroxide gel. This light helps to penetrate the enamel and break down stains and discoloration.
  5. Reapplication and Monitoring: Throughout the treatment, the gel may be reapplied up to 4 times, depending on the level of whitening desired and the condition of your teeth.
  6. Completion and Evaluation: Once the desired level of whitening is achieved, the gel is removed, and your teeth are evaluated to assess the results. Many patients experience significant improvement in the brightness of their smile immediately after the procedure.

How long does teeth whitening last?

The longevity of teeth whitening results varies greatly among individuals. Factors such as diet and lifestyle choices play a significant role. For instance, those who regularly consume staining substances like coffee, red wine, soy sauce, and tomato sauces may notice their whitened teeth require maintenance more frequently compared to those who avoid such foods and drinks.

 At-Home Whitening Convenience

Our at-home whitening kit offers you the flexibility to maintain your desired shade of white at your convenience. You can whiten your teeth whenever it fits into your schedule, ensuring your smile stays vibrant and bright.

In-Office Whitening Advantage

While at-home whitening kits are convenient, in-office whitening typically results in longer-lasting brightness. Our in-chair whitening treatments are designed to deliver superior results that endure longer between sessions.

Whitening sensitive teeth requires careful consideration and consultation with your dentist. Before starting any treatment, it’s crucial to discuss your sensitivity with your dentist to determine the best approach. They may recommend low-concentration hydrogen peroxide gels, desensitising toothpaste, or other suitable options to minimise discomfort. Your dentist can also provide guidance on a gradual whitening approach to manage sensitivity effectively. Throughout the process, communication with your dentist is key to ensuring your comfort and achieving desired results while maintaining your dental health. Tooth sensitivity can also indicate an underlying issue so we always recommend consulting with your dentist if any discomfort is felt.

It’s always advisable to prioritise essential dental treatments before pursuing any cosmetic procedures like whitening. Addressing decay or cavities beforehand is crucial as applying whitening treatments over such issues can lead to heightened sensitivity and significant discomfort. Consulting your dentist before starting any whitening regimen ensures that your dental health is optimised and that you can achieve safe and effective results without compromising your overall oral well-being.

Dental treatments like composite veneers, bonding, crowns (including porcelain), and others cannot be whitened like natural teeth. It’s recommended to complete any of these treatments before whitening your natural teeth to ensure uniformity in color and appearance. Consulting with your dentist before beginning any cosmetic dental work helps plan a cohesive treatment approach tailored to your smile goals.
